In my older version of Excel I had a small Camera/Picture Icon. Where
is it in 2007 ?

Right-click on the ribbon tab names region and choose "Customize the
Quick Access Toolbar". Change "Choose Commands From" from "Popular" to
"All". There, scroll down in the list to "Camera" and click the "Add"
button to add it to the QAT.

The Camera is a useful but largely unknown tool in Excel. It allows
you to take a picture of a range of cells and have a live link between
the picture and the cells. Change a cell and the picture will update.

You can use it to display part of one sheet as a floating image on
another sheet. For example, if you wanted to display to the user range
C10:D20 from Sheet3 on Sheet1, you can use the Camera to create an
image of the range on Sheet3 and display it on Sheet1. I recently used
it in a dash-board type application. On the main worksheet, columns
were formatted to various width for data display, but the user wanted
a Gantt chart display on Sheet1. Because the columns on Sheet1 were
variable width, a Gantt chart could be created on Sheet1 because the
item width were not constant. So, I created the Gantt chart on a new
worksheet and used Camera to put the live link image from the Gantt
sheet on to Sheet1.

It is unfortunate that so few people know what the Camera is. It is a
very useful tool (and the topic of an upcoming page on my web site).

in clients reports.
