Default How to open application using Excel 2003 instead of Excel 2007?

I have a machine with both Excel 2003 and Excel 2007 installed. A user tried
to open an application using ACCPAC which will call for Excel to be OPEN and
it always crash while loading on 2007. It has no problem loading with Excel
2003.

I have tried to modify the extension for .xls and it is able to open the
file using office11 excel instead of office12 excel. But whenever the
application launched from ACCPAC, it reverts to launching office12 excel
instead. Is there anyway to force the default to open applications to
office11 instead of office12?

Go to Start|Run
Type or Paste the following
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Excel.exe" /regserver

If path to your Exce.exe is different then update the path accordingly

You may have to first do
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Excel.exe" /unregserver

then do
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Excel.exe" /regserver
again

Note: Office 11 is Office 2003 and Office12 is Office 2007
