Default Excel 2003 - importing a large .csv file

I am importing a very large csv file and when I try to set up the correct
next line for worksheet 2, I get an error "integer not valid".
Worksheet one stoped at line 65,536 but the impor editor will not let me
enter any number larger than 9999 as the next starting line.

Maybe you can split the text file outside of excel -- using your favorite text
editor???

Chip Pearson has a macro you can download from he

http://www.cpearson.com/excel/ImportBigFiles.aspx

which allows you to import files with more than 64k records - it
automatically puts the next lot of records in a second sheet.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Actually, the import wizard will allow you to bring in more than 65536 row,
but there is a limit.

First import starting on row 1 this will bring in 65536 or so rows.
Then on a different sheet set the starting number at 32767, the biggest
number the wizard will allow. This will bring in rows 32676 down to about
65536+32676.

Hi,

I've done a little checking and as best I can determine Excel 2007 allows
you to import up to 1,048,576 rows at a time and has an upper limit on the
start row of
99,999,999!
