Default Importing (too) large data file

Hi all
Have a workbook which currently does vlookups into an extract of a supplier
product file for pricing info. Extract has only a couple of thousand records
and results in many NAs.
Now have access to the complete product file which has (far) more than 65536
records.

What please is the optimal way to treat this file (fixed width) so that I
can use Excel to retrieve pricing data.

Usage is (say) monthly check to get current prices with views then applied
to print various retail price lists.
Excel workbook contains about a dozen sheets, each of which has only fifty
or so products.

tia, Ian

Use a database application like MsAccess to store the data.

USe the ODBC link in excel to access this data selectively. You could base
the excel file using pivots or simply use the Data -- Import external data
option. In the query put your filters.

See if this works.
