Not able to open Excel files
Where and how did you add "%1"?
What happens when you try to open the Excel files from the desktop? -- Always provide your feedback so that others know whether the solution worked or problem still persists ... Not able to open Excel files
You obviously have to replace the path with the path you are using on your
PC, that path reflected on the website was just an example. Find your excel. exe and look up the path and replace this "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Excel.exe" /Regserver For instance I use Office 2003 and my version would look like "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\Excel.exe" /Regserver note the quotations and also make sure Excel is not running when you do this I usually use this first "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\Excel.exe" /Unregserver then after pressing enter and when the hour glass is closed I immediately do "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\Excel.exe" /Regserver this can also be important: start Excel go to toolsoptionsgeneral and clear the checkmark if there is one in "Ignore other applications", -- Regards, Peo Sjoblom "Bill" wrote in message ... Not able to open Excel files
Understood.
You should be able to edit the setting again. Try deleting that option and then creating again... Another things you can try is to SHIFT-RIGHT CLICK on any Excel file on the desktop Choose 'Open With|Choose Program' and choose Excel from the programs.. Click on 'Always use the selected...' -- Always provide your feedback so that others know whether the solution worked or problem still persists ... Not able to open Excel files
My laptop has the following in 'Application used...' box "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\EXCEL.EXE" /e and this in 'DDE message ' [open("%1")] I am surprised that you are not able to change the settings... How did you change it earlier? Did you login as another user? What I meant was deleting the 'Open' entry or XLS entry altogether and creating it again but that may not work since you are not able to edit it even... You probably need to log in as administrator and then update the setting. -- Always provide your feedback so that others know whether the solution worked or problem still persists ...
