Default Try to open a file that is already in use by someone else-Office 2

Help. When I try to open an Excel or Word file while someone else is using
it, I get this message: ____(my file) cannot be found. Check your spelling or
try a different path.
I used to get a msg telling me that the file was in use. I could then choose
to open in Read Only, Notify or Cancel. When I am home using Office 2003, I
have no problem accessing the file. What's the deal?
