Is there a way to get the file open dialog box to start at the top of
the list? In either Excel or Word, the dialog box opens at either the middle or the end of the list, which means that, for any folder that has both sub-folders and files, one has to scroll left to get to the list of folders because they're at the head of the list. Thanks in advance! John |

I am assuming the sort order is incorrect.
What version of Windows are you running? For Windows 98 see here. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/229070 For Windows XP see here. http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_d...nsaveorder.htm Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP On 15 Mar 2007 13:41:04 -0700, wrote: Is there a way to get the file open dialog box to start at the top of the list? Thanks in advance! John- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - We're using Windows XP, but the problem is not in the sort order. The files list in proper order (folders first, then files) - the problem is that the window opens in the middle of the list or at the end, never at the beginning unless there are few enough files to fit in a single column within the window. And it doesn't seem to make any difference if the view is set to list or to detail. John |
