Default Excel 2007 pivot table label filter

I have a dataset that originated as a SQL query. It is now an Excel
table. I am attempting to create a pivot table from it, but I cannot
get the pivot table columns to filter by labels (or by values). The
Table itself will filter fine. I've tried recreating the data, setting
it as a table and as a range.

I have another spreadsheet that uses essentially the same data, but I
I created pivot tables there for different analysis, and they work
fine.

What am I missing?
Doug
