Default Using VLOOKUP or HLOOKUP to sum ROWS

Assumptions:
In B1: Jul-08 (a 1st-of-month real date)
In D2: Jul-08 (the same 1st-of-month real date)
(you have merged D2:E2. so the only value is the one in D2.
as a general rule, don't use merged cells)

In F5: =SUM(OFFSET(A5,,MATCH($B$1,B$2:E$2,0),,2))
Copy F2 down
