Hi, All

Please help me out i am using Excel 2003 i want to open default excel file
with some settings so for that i have created boo.xlt file in the XLstart
folder of excel on path

C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART

Its working fine on many systems but on some systems its not working when i
open the excel on that system it open excel file with default excel settings
not the same as my book.xlt.

I have just check that book.xlt is there at right path and also when i open
the Blank Workbook it open diffrent file with diffrent settings as i know it
should be same as my book.xlt as book.xlt is dafault excel template file.
Please suggest why it is showing this behaviour

Do not use File...NewBlank workbook or you will get the Excel default workbook.

Use FileNew(no ellipsis) or CTRL + n or the New File Icon.

But my problem is that my client want that his excel open default as we set
book.xlt file in xlstartup folder its work fine in some sysyem but in some

Re-read my post about how to get the Book.xlt to open as default.

Is the client following those rules?

Does client want Book.xlt to open automatically when Excel is started?

Book.xlt will not open unless manually opened even if stored in the XLSTART
folder

To have a default customized workbook open with Excel it must be a customized
Book.xls, not a Template(*.xlt)

Thanks for your reply.

Yes client want Book.xlt to open automatically when Excel is started and
second when he click on the blank workbook then also it open as the default
excel as like book.xlt .
Please tell me what is the exact procedure to do this.
As u said it is not working as book.xlt but on my system if i place my
Book.xlt file in XLStart folder it open as default excel as book.xlt and also
working on when i click on blank workbook but not working on client machine.
Please Help me out.

*.xlt files in XLSTART folder WILL NOT open automatically when Excel is started.

Must be your shortcut to start Excel includes the BOOK.XLT and the Client's does
not.

A shortcut to start Excel as such will open the BOOK.XLT

"C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application
Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART\Book.xlt"

This still leaves the BOOK.XLT as default new workbook as long as Client does
not click on FileNew...Blank Workbook
