Default Excel 2003 & SP3

I have a password protected spreadsheet which I copied to an external
hard drive. I re-installed my OS and after rebooting, was advised by
MS that I should install SP3. I did so. I can no longer access the one
password protected spread sheet I have - I now get a message "file is
read-only or encrypted". I used the "advanced" feature of the
properties dialogue box and attempted to turn off encryption (it shows
as encrypted) but the system refuses to make the change. I can't copy
or move the file.

All other files, spreadsheet or otherwise, can be opened (to the best
of my knowledge).

I've searched the use groups without finding a solution. MS wants $59
to even think about it. Can anyone point me in the right direction ?

Richard
