Default opening / veiwing x-cel spreadsheets

Normally when I chick on a spreadsheet it automacally opens. Now I get a blan
gray screen. I must have done something to a setting.....now I must go to
the open file icon, find the file and then chick on it to have it open. How
can I fix this???

Tools Options General and clear the ignore other options checkbox
