How to permanently activate Macros?
When I open certain Excel or Word documents then I am always asked if I want to enable or disable
embedded macros. How can I permanently active these macros (when I open the document later again)? However I do NOT want to change the document file itself. Other user who may have access to the documents as well should have the choice to disable them). I could imagine that MsOffice resp. Word/Excel maintains an internal list where "always activate macros for docs" are entered and remembered. If this is not possible: Is there a way to always allow macros for me (=when I open them) ? For use on your computer only see help on creating a digital certificate using
the Office SelfCert tool. Sign your workbooks with that signature. What version of Word/Excel are you using? In Office 2007, you can designate
certain folders as "trusted locations". Hence, any files in those folders are automatically trusted. Some Office 2003 applications also support the trusted locations idea, but control is much less direct. How to permanently activate Macros?
Another possible solution, and one personal to you and your machine, go to
Tools, Macros, Security, change the level to one you are comfortable with. Be aware that you could be leaving yourself vulnerable, say if you are the sort of person who receives documents from other people that could contain macros, etc. Hope this helps DeanH "Jeff Korn" wrote: When I open certain Excel or Word documents then I am always asked if I want to enable or disable embedded macros. Though would have to be done manually, set the macro security level to
"Low". This is only recommended to do if you are behind sufficient firewall and anti-virus protection as otherwise, you are leaving yourself to be wide open to vulnerabilities. I use macros quite a bit within the company, which does have such protections in place, so this medium level macro protection is more of a headache than what it's worth. -- Thanks, Ronald R. If the macros are stored in the attached template, or in a global template, you could move those into a trusted location (such as your templates folder or Word's StartUp folder). Klaus |
