Default Workbooks Close, but window stays open

One of my colleagues is having a problem with Excel 2003 - When he has
multiple workbooks open and he uses the internal X to close a single
workbook, the workbook closes, but the window stays open. So if he has 4
workbooks open and he closes each one individually using the internal X, he
now has 4 empty Excel windows open on his toolbar.

If he uses File -- Close it closes the workbook and window. If he
right-clicks on the toolbar tab and selects close, it closes the workbook and
window -- It's only when he uses the internal X that the wmpty windows stay
open.

Any ideas why or any ideas of what he can do to fix this?

Thanks!

Mari

From the menu select TOOLS and then click OPTIONS. If necessary, click the
VIEW tab. In the first row there are a series of check boxes under the SHOW
pane name, remove the check from WINDOWS IN TASKBAR.

This should solve your problem...
