Default Excel 2003 cell feature

I am a novice with excel. I am in receipt of a cashflow projection emailed
and returned to me in a modified form to demonstrate three scenarios. I find
that some cells have a red triangle in the upper right corner. When the
mouse hovers, I see a short comment in each of them but do not see how to
view the scenarios. I write to inquire what the name and effect of the red
triangle is, how can I create them, and how can I determine if there are
actually three cashflow scenarios within this single spreadsheet. This is
Excel 2003 Much thanks for any guidance

The red triangle you speak of is a cell comment and they are inserted via the
INSERT menu in Excel. Click INSERT and select COMMENT

Scenarios on the other hand are What-If projections that allow the user to
set the values for different cells so that you can view projected results.

For instance, you could create a scenario that shows profit margin by
creating a current profit margin profile, another scenario where sales
increase by 2.5% and the cost of materials decreases by 4%, and another
scenario where sales remain the same by material costs increase by 1.3% and
labor cost increases by 5%, and on an on...

If your spreadsheet has scenarios you will find them by clicking TOOLS in
the menu and selection SCENARIOS. If this option is greyed out there are no
defined scenarios for the current worksheet.

Scenarios are worksheet specific, so check each of the worksheets in the
workbook.

The cells with the red triangles have comments attached to them. When you
put the mouse on the cell, you see the comment. To add a comment, select a
cell and then Insert/Comment. Scenarios which have nothing to do with
comments. Try Tools/Scenarios to see scenarios, if there are any. Select the
senario you want to see and click on Show.
