Default last number defaluts to zero

When I enter a large number into and Excel, the last digit of the number
defaults to zero.

I have tried all the different cell formats available and none of them allow
a different ending digit - other than zero 0

Excel can only handle 15 digits. Precede the number with a single quote
(apostrophe).

If by large you mean 16 digits or more, that's the nature of the beast. Excel
can handle 15 digits of precision only. If you're entering something like a
credit card# (or any # which doesn't require arithmetic operations), enter it
as text -- either precede it with an single quote (which won't show) or
format the cell as text. Then you'll get all your digits.
