Default Drop-down buttons

Someone sent me a spreadsheet that has drop-down buttons embedded. When you
click on them, you can change not only wording but also the color of the
cell. (Green/yellow/red). I'd like to do this as well but haven't a clue. How
difficult is this to do and where would you set this sort of thing up?
