Default Excel 2007: Missing drop-down buttons in Pivot Charts?

Dear all,
when creating a pivot chart from a pivot table, there appears only a very
basic chart. What is basically missing are the drop-down buttons in which one
can select the variables to display.

In addition drag-and-drop within the table does not work any longer (not
surprising, as the buttons are missing), but it does not work any longer as
well from the variable list. All configuration is now done via the "PivotCart
Filter Pane".

However, this filter pane is very unfortunate, since it does not display the
names of the variables in the diagram any longer. So, if you have two
variables, both having the categories 0 and 1, then it says only 1 and 0 on
the x-axis and 1 and 0 in the legend, but you can't see in the diagram which
variable is displayed on the x-axis and which one in the legend. You need the
filter pane for that. That is not only extremely confusing, error prone, and
uncomfortable as compared to the old style, but requires the manual entering
of labels for each diagram if they are printed.

However, in the Excel 2007 help, a classical pivot chart showing the
pull-down variable buttons is depicted. Thus, I hope that this feature can be
turned on somewhere.

Can anybody help here?

Thanks a lot for your help &
Kind Regards,
Andre
