Default Excel startup links options

Recently upgraded from Office 2000 Pro to 2007 Pro. (Using WXP SP2).

Spreadsheets with links to other spreadsheets do not ask at startup if I
want to update links - as the 2000 version did. I have been through all the
program help items and selected in startup options 'Allow the user to chose',
and in advanced Excel options the 'update links to other documents' option is
ticked (correctly) and the 'ask to update automatic links' is also ticked.
Nowhere can I find an option to display the question at startup.

Can anyone help please?
