Default transfer works to excel

I have OLD files on disk created using Works Spreadsheet (Word 1). I need to
change them to Excel files (Word 2003 standard edition) on another computer.
Can this be done?

Default transfer works to excel

You can open works files in excel 2003 by gong to open and then select file
type as microsoft works.
