When typing into the 'From' box a drop down box appears offering a numer of
address options, none of which i recognise. How do I get rid of these? They
are not shown in the address book

You have posted to an MS Excel group.

Perhaps an MS Outlook group would provide more responses.

This is an Excel group. Try asking in one of the Outlook groups.

But where is OP typing into a "From" box?

Only place I see one of these is when you are creating a rule.

Start a new message, click View, and "From". Now you have a "From box".

Thanks Bob.

Never knew that existed.

I have only one email address so the from is automatically me and my default
address.

I find it handy to have several similar accounts for communicating with
different vendors and personal friends, so the "From" can be handy to
pick "who" it's from.
