Gentlemen, thanks for your suggestions :)
Unfortunately, the alt-codes are meaningless to Excel 2000. Been there, tried that! Thanks for the tip on how to see a font's values! I could have used it yesterday! But since this version of Xcel appears to be limited to 26 macros(?) (maybe 52), my solution probably wouldn't have been much different with this knowledge. I had to find a way to add these characters to the "Vocabulary Item" field without killing off all my macro usage, since I needed plenty of macros for later constructions. Here was my solution: 1. Create special characters in Word 2000 document (easy with alt codes) 2. Copy and paste characters to Excel 2000 array (in this case a simple column of 42 characters, plus 3 for later additions, total of 45) 3. Create list box of characters 4. Output of list box selection = row# of char in array 5. Various moves to finagle this into a character addition into "vocabulary item" edit field. 6. Edit field remains active for further input. With this solution I only burned up one macro :) and have lots of room for new functions, should I require them. I plan to take French for at least the next year-and-1/2, so I want this baby to be as terrifically easy & useful as I can make it -- thus the need to conserve macros. Thanks to all, nevermoore |
