When making a graph, my tickmarks on the trend line gradually misaligns from
the midpoint of the vertical gridline until it practically overlaps on the far right border of the next gridline. The result is a akward kink in my trend line and a complete mis representation of where the tickmark should be represented relative to the table below that it is describing. Need your help!! |

What version of Excel are you using? What type of chart have you made? Could
you paste some sample data into a reply? What are "tickmarks on the trend line"? - Jon ------- Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP Tutorials and Custom Solutions Peltier Technical Services, Inc. - http://PeltierTech.com _______ "servcoAFS" wrote in message ... ![]() I am using version 2003 Tickmarks are the reference point of the line in the line graph. Below is a sample.... * * * _________________________________ Jul 07 | Aug 07 | Sep 07 | 100 | 200 | 300 | Imagine there is line connecting all three asterisks... Ideally the tickmark should be represented in the middle of the vertical gridline as shown in July 07. What is happening is that in Aug 07, the tickmark is right justifying and Sep 07 is left justifying causing a kink in the trend line. Hope you are able to help us. It looks like a formatting issue but we have literally exhausted all options here. "Jon Peltier" wrote: What version of Excel are you using? What type of chart have you made? Data tables were designed for category axes. If that's a time scale axis,
there's no guarantee that it will align the way you expect. Is the X data just Jul 07, Aug 07, etc., or is it like 7/15/07, 8/20/07, etc.? To turn a time scale axis into a category axis, go to Chart menu Chart Options Axes tab, and change from Time Scale (or Automatic) to Category, under Category (X) Axis. - Jon ------- Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP Tutorials and Custom Solutions Peltier Technical Services, Inc. - http://PeltierTech.com _______ "servcoAFS" wrote in message ...
