Default Formating

I have a long list of dates example.
01/15/2007
03/13/2007
04/04/2007
04/09/2007
04/09/2007

that I would like to format into a shorter date format. For some reason when
I apply the new format it doesn't take until I click into each and every
cell. Problem is I have a couple thousand.

Thanks in adavance for the help.

It looks like your data is in a column. If this is so, use
Tools Text to Columns
to change the format
