I WANT TO COPY AN EXCEL FILE TO DISC TO SEND TO A CUSTOMER. I WANT THIS TO
BE PROTECTED SO THE CUSTOMER CANNOT CHANGE ANY INFORMATION, BUT I DON'T WANT MY ORIGINAL FILE TO BE PROTECTED. CAN I DO THIS SO IT IS ONLY PROTECTED ON THE DISC? |

First off using all caps is the equivalent of shouting in text. Yes you
can protect and set read-only on a COPY of the file and then put THAT file on the disc. Be aware the read-only and protection CAN be broken by a determined individual. Hi Becky,
There are various ways to do this. 1. When you save the file, save it as 'Read-only recommended'. This will still allow your customer to change contents. 2. Save the file with 'Modify' password. this option can be found under 'Save as' window's Tools menu--General option. 3. Alternatively, save your file in the normal way. Close it. Go to windows explorer, right click on the file. Select properties and select 'Read only'. Hope this helps!! -- Pranav Vaidya VBA Developer PN, MH-India If you think my answer is useful, please rate this post as an ANSWER!!
