I have created several drop down lists in Excel by using the Data Validation
Feature. The problem I am having is that my drop down lists are very long and I would like the cell to allow a user to just start typing one of the options in the drop down and have it autopopulate if the option is listed in the drop down. I already have my settings in Excle to autopopulate, and it does on any other part of excel, just not the drop down boxes. Does anyone know how to allow my drop downs to auto populate? Thanks!!! |

DV lists won't autocomplete.
You need a combo-box for that. See Debra Dalglesih's site for instructions. http://www.contextures.on.ca/xlDataVal10.html On Mon, 30 Jul 2007 12:02:00 -0700, How to autopopulate a drop down list <How to autopopulate a drop down wrote: I have created several drop down lists in Excel by using the Data Validation Feature. The new list entries are listed in the coulmn list. 7. Click OK to return to the Worksheet. 8. Now enter a column and then drag the cell. All the other column entries automatically gets populated. Procedure 2: 1. On the Tools menu. click Options. The Options dialog is displayed. 2. Click the Custom Lists tab. 3. In the Column List list, Click New List 4.
