Default Boards Broken in Browsers

Tuesday - June 5, 2007: Myself and others are being notified of responses
but cannot view those responses in web browsers. I can see them in Outlook
Express.

Frustrating to all, wasting people's time in many cases - I saw one post
with the same answer given by almost a dozen people - no doubt because they
could not see the previous responses from others.

I was wondering why about 6 people responded with the same solution hours
after the first answers were posted, I was on my way posting something
sarcastic but thought the better of it <bg

Default Boards Broken in Browsers

3 or 4 years ago MS had a different web interface that wasn't "too bad". I
liked it enough to use as my regular way of accessing the groups. Then they
changed it to its current configuration which is downright horrible. I'm
still registered at the website but now I only use it if I'm having a
problem accessing through OE (which is almost never).

I seem to have constant problems with OE, it only shows
about half of the threads that appear on the web browser
and the delay from posting a thread to it showing in the
web browser can sometimes be up to 12 hours. Quite
often my posts will show in my own OE window but
due to the nature of the responses I am sure that many
others can't see them.

Martin

One doesn't *have* to choose between a lousy medium (web) or a hack-job
news client (OE). There are many actual newsreaders, e.g. Agent.

That's interesting JE. I've only ever used OE or the Microsoft web pages.
Does Agent suffer from any problems with posts showing in the web
browser but not in Agent?

Martin

I'm thinking that the options aren't known to everyone (I know I'm pretty
dumb when it comes to all things newsreader) and I suspect many people end
up here by way of their browser and the results of some search engine.

Problem isn't any better this morning. Got notification of responses to
this discussion and couldn't even see the original posting in IE 7 when I
clicked the link! I think their .asp has gotten caught up in some .net and
won't .com with hardly anyone today.

Personally, I think they'd be better off setting the whole thing up as a
true discussion forum such as the many that feed into/from the newsgroups.

Martin

I use Forte Agent and get all posts AFAICT

I don't have any comparison with the CDO interface so can't speak to that.
