Default Excel files not opening

Hello,

I am currently using Excel 2007, when I double click on an excel
file, Excel opens up to a blank screen. If I go to options and then
cancel out, the workbook opens up. Or if excel is already opem and
then I double click on the workbook, it will open that way also.
Anyone have any issues like these?

So far I have ran all updates, and disabled all add-ons. I have ran a
repair, but the problem remains. Not sure what to try next.

All help is apreciated

Ben

I have tried this, and it does not fix it in 2007. Any other ideas?

It was an upgrade from Office 2003. The folder is empty. Also, this
was not a problem on Friday, and nothing has changed that I am aware
of.

Do you have the same problem when you start Excel in Safe modes

Close Excel
Hold the Ctrl key when you open Excel
Say Yes in the dialog that popup

Yes, I have tried that, although I did not get a pop up asking me
anything. I also uninstalled office 2007, rana registry cleaner to get
rid of anything from office 2003 or 2007, then reinstalled. Same
problem.

I tried uninstalling, running a reg cleaner to delete all instances of
Office 2003 or 2007, and still no Luck.

I tried holding the ctrl key down while opening Excel, the was not a
dialog box that popped up. I tried double clicking on the workbook
while holding the ctrl key and it acted the same way, no dialog box,
not workbook either.

I am having this same problem. We have Office 2007 installed on a few
computers and I'm the only one with this problem. I am running a full
version of Office 2007 and Outlook 2003.

When I double click an Excel file it opens to a blank screen.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck. Problem still
there.

I have tried what people suggested here.. one said go into settings,
general, and checking ignore other applications that use DDE, that didn't
work. Another person suggested holding down CTRL while starting Excel and
going into safe mode.. what do I do after that? I closed Excel tried to open
a file and the problem is still there.

One note: doing the thing with ignoring other applications that use DDE
makes NO Excel files open EVER. I had to go back in and uncheck that to even
make Excel open files again.

Default Excel files not opening

I am running the trial version of Office 2007 Prof. I too have found that
when I try to open an existing Excel worksheet there is only a blank page
(the ribbon, etc. is there - just no worksheet). I went to the Office button
and could search for the file - but that was a step I'd aready taken. I did
open a worksheet and was distracted, came back to it and it had opened.
Tried just waiting several time with different worksheets and they did open.
But it is a wait of OVER a minute (timed it). Is this because this is a
trial version, or because the worksheets were developed in Excel 2003? Does
this mean that I need to open Excel first (instead of going directly to the
worksheet), then go to the file to speed things up? Anyone have any idea if
this will be corrected? I am considering buying Off. 2007, but these
obstacles make me wonder if 2007is an improvement.

Hi Ben,
Apparently, you're not alone. I am also the only one in our office with
this problem. Doesn't look like any good solutions though, huh? I'm glad
I'm not the only one though.

I have had the same problem with excel opening to a blank blue screen.
On another site I found it is due to issues with Logitech Quickcam software.
If you have a Logitech Quickcam upgrafe the software to version 11.5
If you use the autoupdate it will say that your software is current (11.1?)
Go to Logitech's site and download 11.5
I did that yesterday and so far my excel is working fine
Let me know if this works for you
