Default conversion of 2000XP excel to 1997 excel

How do I proceed with the above subject without corruption of any files?

Default conversion of 2000XP excel to 1997 excel

No conversion should be necessary. The file format for versions xl97 to xl2003
is the same.

(Although, I'm not sure what 2000XP is.)
