No free upgrades for any version of Excel or Office applications.
You could try eBay for a newer version of Excel. Just be sure it is a retail copy with all the documentation and licence key. OpenOffice is a free program that emulates much of what MS Office Suite can do. Download from http://download.openoffice.org/2.1.0/index.html About a 70 meg download.
