Default excel file extension

I have a windows vista operating system. I have office 2003. When I try to
open an excel document it opens in word. when I try to change the file
extension my going to open with excel is not there. Can anyone help as you
can probably tell computers are not my thing. HELP!!!

Default excel file extension

Hi Mr Lost,

In XP you go to StartSettingsControl PanelFolder Options
click on the File Types Tab select your file extension from the list and
change the program it opens with in that dialog box. I imagine that
Vista would be very similar if not the same.

P.S. Changing file extensions is not a good idea unless you know
exactly what you are doing.
