Default Number format

Hi all

I have a spreadsheet with a list of codes (about 6 digits). I want to
compare the codes with a list and return a new code (v-lookup). The old codes
mostly start with 00 or 000 but not all

004463
000547

and they are formatted as text in the V-lookup table but as special in the
other list (im not sure what special is as a format). When comparing the
v-lookup it does not work which I assume is because they are formatted
differently. However if I change the Format from special to Text (so they are
the same) I lose the zeros at the end so again the Vlookup will not work

Is there a way of changing the format to text without losing the zeros

Hope this made sense and any help is greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

However the list of values is stored
