Default Excell view (or something)

I need to describe the problem, since I have no idea what I'm dealing
with...

1. I got an excel file that has only columns A -E. Columns beyond that
are grayed, can not be "found" nor can you select a cell in that
range. After E, there is no table. No mouse right click.
2. cells A-E are normal in every way I see.
3. befor the row numbers there is a wide gray belt where occasionally
a [+][-] expandable areas reside and you can hide and show the hidden
cells.
4. On the top of this belt there are numbers 1 and 2 each showing the
outline of this tree view.

My first guess was that that is a pivot table, but it doesn't look
like it. The second was some strangle outlined view, but again there
are no menu options to change...

Can someone give the right directions on what this is.

Thanks

Just click on those buttons. They are outline buttons and are found in
the data menu. It helps to easily hide or unhide rows or columns
