Default is there a way to protect a range of cells on a worksheet?

I am trying to lock several columns in a worksheet that contain formulas that
I do not want to be able to accidentally change. Is there a way to do this,
or can I only protect the entire worksheet?

Default

Select the whole worksheet, do formatcellsprotection, uncheck locked, now
select the columns you want to protect,
repeat and select locked, protect the sheet
