Default lost query definition

Multiple times i've run into a situation where a query i have saved on a
worksheet mysteriously loses its query definition after i make edits (i.e.,
go into MS Query and change an aspect of the definition) or even just refresh
the query. This happens even though i have "Save query definition" checked in
the Data Range Properties dialog box. I'm using Excel2003. Is this a known
bug? Is there just something stupid i'm doing that's causing this to happen?
there any way i can avoid this in the future??

Thanks,
rachael
