Default Reposting lost query about virus scan

I recently reinstalled MS Office 2003 and changed some of the customized
choices. Now, whenever I run Excel or Word, or open any of their documents,
the application carries out a virus scan. This is slowing up everything. How
can I stop this scanning process as I feel my computer is adequately
protected by Norton Antivirus and ZoneAlarm ?

TIA
Tom

You need to disable virus scanning in you anti-virus software. It is an
option in Norton.

Thanks. I mistakenly thought it was carried out by MS Office 2003.
