Default Links Cannot Be Updated

After I click UPDATE at the startup prompt, my workbook always says it cannot
update the link. I go to EDIT LINKS and it says the link is OK. I've
protected & unprotected sheets, broken & repasted links, everything I can
think of.... I've changed the source to another workbook it's own local
folder, but to no avail. I still get this message. Any other thoughts out
there? Any & all suggestions appreciated.
(I've searched this site, but no luck on an answer so far.)

thx
seana
