Default Unable to display color formatting

While working late on a very large workbook late one night a window popped up
offering a high visability configuration and with beleagured eyeballs I
foolishly decided to try it. Instantly the screen disply went into an
inverted monochrome format (black screen with white text). As much of the
workbook is color-coded this was not a good thing. I have been able to
un-invert the display but it remains in a monochrome form despite the fact
the cell formattting remains intact and prints properly. Other programs work
normally so I it would appear to be an Excel setting but I have been unable
to locate anything that seems to be related and neither Excel or Office

Maybe it's a windows setting...

Under Control Panel|Accessibility Options|Display Tab

Is "use high contrast" checked?

If yes, uncheck it.

======
And completely off topic...

While you're there, click on the Keyboard tab and check "Use ToggleKeys" in the
bottom section.

You'll here a beep when you hit the CapsLock, ScrollLock, or NumberLock keys.
It'll help when you're typing and hit the wrong key.

Thanks Dave! That was it. I'm not sure how I missed that flag as this is one
of the first places I looked. I had even checked the second flag you
suggested while I was there previously for the very purpose you suggest.
Guess I was just to exhausted to see straight...
