Default Excel won't scroll downwards on sheet with autofilter & freeze pan

Hi,

The essential elements of the sheet in question a

1) The sheet is protected with the only interaction allowed by the user
being selections in drop down boxes. Formulas link these to a column with 500
or so rows which each take a value of TRUE or FALSE. There is a single filter
on this column, set by a macro running of the change drop down event, that
selects the correct rows for the user to see.
2) Freeze panes is set, so that the row with headers (same row as
autofilter) is always visible.
3) The sheet has a scroll area set (bigger than the data table)

The problem I have is:
Occasionally one is unable to scroll downwards, but this problem is
intermittent. It happens more often on the client's computer than it does
mine. If I scroll to the right first, then afterwards I can scroll down
again. This fix does not work on the client's computer ?

Any bright ideas ?!

Many thanks
MG
