Default Odd VLookup behavior

Hi,
I have a vlookup table that has a number from 1 to 800. Then it has a label
like SS or GL depending what number it is. Then a 3rd column is another
number like a district number.
1 SS 24
2 GL 32 AND SO ON.....

When I do the vLookup with this I get the same answer for every cell.
What is even odder is that when I pick one of those cells and double click
on it the formula comes up but when I press enter the VLOOKUP now works
correctly.
Anyone have an idea of what is up?
Thanks.

Turn on Automatic Calculations:

TOOLS
OPTIONS
CALCULATION Tab
Check "Automatic"
OK

I had that on already.
I went online and installed some security updates and that
fixed it. Why it did I don't know. This was the oddest problem I have seen
in a while. Thanks though for helping me so quick. I apologize for not
posting that I had automatic calculation on already. F9 worked for me which I
though was odd also since I should not have to do that.
