Default open file file then error message

I have excel file create in excel 2003,but I use Excel 2000 to open it
The message ' File error : some number format may have been lost'
How could I solve this problem (eliminate the error message)

If you open the file in xl2k and then save the file, does the problem go away
the next time you open it?
