Default colum width

Range("C1").Value = "the length you want the column"
Columns("C:C").Autofit

Default colum width

What's the question? How do you adjust the column width?

If so, highlight the column in question by clicking the identifier at
the top of the column, then Format | Column | Width - you will be
presented with a panel where you can type the width directly. However,
the font size you choose will allow you to have more or fewer
characters within that width.

I'm confused about what you want, but I hope this helps.
