Default Pivot Table - Filter

When I select a drop-down to a filter row (or column) to select a value I
often see or can select values that are no longer in the datasource. Is there
a way to remove these simply.

only way i can figure out is to rebuild pivot report or move the value to
"page" and "hide items" but this is not very good or wise

any ideas

There are instructions here for clearing old items from a pivot table:

I'm not sure what you mean. Can you give an example?

when i double click on a field name, say in the column section it brings up a
box with info on the field. in older version of excel you can see all the
values in this box and can manually select a value to hide it. I notice now
however at home on my newer version of excel this is no longer an option. not
to worry your first mail helps anyway

Your newer version of Excel will still show that list if you
double-click on a page field button.
In Page, Row and Column fields, you can show or hide items by checking
or unchecking items in the dropdown list of items.
