Default Excel 2003 - Save As function inserts "Copy of"

Is there any way in Excel 2003 to disable the automatic insertion of the
"copy of" when using the file "save as" function on a read only file.
I typically go to a read-only file dirctory and open the xls or csv files
and then save the file into another directory that is not read-only. When I
try to save the file it automatically adds in the "copy of" in front of the
original filename.
