Excel 2003 - Save As function inserts "Copy of"

Is there any way in Excel 2003 to disable the automatic insertion of the
"copy of" when using the file "save as" function on a read only file.
I typically go to a read-only file dirctory and open the xls or csv files
and then save the file into another directory that is not read-only. When I
try to save the file it automatically adds in the "copy of" in front of the
original filename.

Can you move the files over in Windows by selecting them all then draggin
them to appropriate folder? Might be quicker then opening them all and
resaving them...
