I have an xla file preventing me from opening new files
I'm getting a warning message "GWXL97.XLA couldnot be found. Check the
spelling of a file name, and verify that the location is correct." I can't open or save a file as a result. How do I fix this problem? |

Open excel
Look under tools|addins. Do you see anything that looks like GWXL97.xla (or GroupWise?)? If yes, then uncheck it. If excel can't find the file, you'll be prompted to remove it from the list. (Although, I'm not sure why this would affect your ability to open/save files.) Ben 20433 wrote: I'm getting a warning message "GWXL97.XLA couldnot be found. I have an xla file preventing me from opening new files
Let me define my problem more explicitely,
When I try to open a file in Excel by clicking on the yellow folder icon under the FILE menu, I get a warning that states the following. €˜GWXL97.XLA could not be found. Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the location is correct. Then there is a warning triangle that says If you are trying to open a file from your list of most recently used files on the file menu, make sure that the file has not been moved or deleted. The same warning happens when I click the save icon before closing a file. I have tried the suggestion of going to tools/addin's and find nothing that will solve the problem.
