![]() I know this question has probably been asked, but I need a step by step. Since Ebay has enlarged their item #'s, I can't get them to paste as a regular whole #. The paste always comes to something like this:2.5001E+11. Now, I can go in and format the cell and change it to number or special or custom and it does change that cell to the right visual or I can do the same format to the entire column, but the next time i copy and paste it reverts back to the old format (I have saved the new format, but that didn't do it either). I hope I explained it ok. Just want to format the entire column to stick permanently. -- kbooz ------------------------------------------------------------------------ kbooz's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=36920 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=566297 |

The paste always comes to something like this:2.5001E+11. Enter the number preceded by an apostrophe ('). Or if you have sufficient foresight, format the cell as Text (Format Cells Number) __before__ you enter the item number. Now, I can go in and format the cell and change it to number or special or custom and it does change that cell to the right visual Well, you got lucky. If the item number were too long (more than 15 digits), it would not have worked because Excel would have changed the number already. I believe you need to set the format to Text __before__ you enter the item number. |

![]() Changing the column to test revert all my #'s to the wrong format (the one I am trying to get rid of). I need something that will pre set the column for future pastings. Right now, all I can do is change either one at a time or I can change the whole column until the next time I paste and that new number goes is as 2.5001E+11. -- kbooz ------------------------------------------------------------------------ kbooz's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=36920 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=566297 |
