Default Vlookup for two lists from different sources

I have two sets of lists. Each contains names of companies. The problem is
that the lists come from two sources, and thus are not the exact same (i.e.
some have Co., Inc., etc.). I need to make these names match on both lists?
How can I do this?

Thanks.

Sometimes, only manually. But for some cases, you can use a function that returns an index that can
be used to find some close matches. Visit

for details.

You can get rid of some of them by using the Replace (Ctrl+H), enter the
"Co." and if you just want to delete it then don't type in the replace line
but do click on it, then replace or replace all - you can do this to both
lists so that they are the same...
or combine into one sheet and sort so that similar names are together, and
then use auto fill or delete... I'm not sure if you are trying to get to a
single list ...
