Showing a specific value against a normal curve
I'm wondering if it's possible to show a specific data point against a normal
curve. I would like to be able to show where, for example, a particular test score would fall on the curve of all test scores. Suggestions please? |

Draw a normal curve, then add a 2nd series that represents the z-value for
the test score of interest. To draw a normal curve: Normal curve http://www.tushar-mehta.com/excel/ch..._distribution/ To add a vertical line, adapt the ideas for drawing a horizontal line Adding a horizontal line to a chart http://www.tushar-mehta.com/excel/ch...traight_lines/ Alternatively, add a one data point series and add a vertical error bar with a negative value equal to the y-value. To do so, double-click the one-point series, select the Y Error Bars tab, select the 'Minus' option and set the % value to 100. -- Regards, Tushar Mehta www.tushar-mehta.com Excel, PowerPoint, and VBA add-ins, tutorials Custom MS Office productivity solutions In article , says... Showing a specific value against a normal curve
I tried the last option, which placed a data point along the x-axis, but I
wasn't able to get the vertical line to appear. I did double-click the one-point that appears on the graph now and I selected the Y Error Bars tab, selected the 'Minus' option and set the % value to 100; but, the vertical line does not appear. Did I miss something? "Tushar Mehta" wrote: Draw a normal curve, then add a 2nd series that represents the z-value for the test score of interest. Showing a specific value against a normal curve
OK... I double-clicked the data point, selected the Y Error Bars tab,
selected Custom and set the + value to ={1}. This has created a vertical black line. Now I'm wondering if it's possible to change the color of that line.
