![]() I have the following data in excel and want to create a scatter plot. bread....7....24 drinks....9....29 foods....6....23 When I create this data as a scatterplot it plots the first set of data as one dot and the second set of data as another dot, so 6 dots on total. I can get the scatter plot I require by leaving out the first column of data, but this then does not allow me to label the dots. Please see attachment for more details. Any suggestions Thanking you in advance. +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Filename: Doc1.doc | |Download: http://www.excelforum.com/attachment.php?postid=4383 | +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ -- elizkathjones ------------------------------------------------------------------------ elizkathjones's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=31756 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=514813 |

Hi,
one possibility is to plot each product as a separate series. This results in a separate marker for each product and a legend showing each product's name and marker. If that's what you want you can select all three columns then start the chart wizard. Select X-Y Scatter then Next. In Step 2 of 4 click on the Series tab. Use the Remove button to remove both the Penetration and AWOP series then click on the Add button. Set up this new series by clicking on the little button with the red arrow on the right side of the Name: box, then click on the cell with Brioche then back to the little button with the red arrow. Now click on the little button with the red arrow on the right side of the X Values: box, then click on the worksheet cell containing Brioche's penetration value (7.5), then back to that button. Now click on the little button with the red arrow on the right side of the Y Value: box, then click on the worksheet cell with Brioche's AWOP value (2.7), then back to the little button. That does Brioche as a separate series, now do the same for every other product, starting with the Add button to add the next series for Croissants. After you've done all that you might want to reformat the markers, Excel's choices are pretty poor. Ken Johnson |
